I've actually done comparisons going up to just the end of the Dark Signers arc and one or two in the 65+ half of the show, but since I've been going from host to host for a few years, I'm still working on remastering the ones past 22 for this new host I've settled on. If you'd like to take a look and see just how different the dub is from the Japanese series, I run a sub/dub comparison site for 5D's (and eventually GX, I hope) in the vein of for DM. 5D's was the first YGO show I watched subbed from start to finish, staying up late to catch new episodes in college, so it pains me to see what the dub did to it. Well, at least eps 1-64 the dub does improve going into the 65+ part of the show, as they get a new voice director in Darren Dunstan, so the voices sort of smooth out (dub!Rua/Ruka aren't as annoying, Aki's dub VA isn't so grating), and they start working in the Synchro chants they left out in 1-64, but it's still a much better experience subbed. It definitely is worth watching-it's got to be my favorite spinoff next to GX-but please do watch it subbed, because the nonsense they pull in the dub with changing character motivations, adding out-of-left-field plot points (hi, Yusei's sudden amnesia), the less-than-stellar-in-comparison soundtrack, and-the most annoying for me-replacing most of the proper card effect explanations with trash-talk at the opponent (because they have their annoying Card Showcase Interruptions to do that job, which is an okay concept in theory, and if they kept it just in Riding Duels, except that it ends up being used to explain what we see on the card) makes it near unwatchable.

I saw the dub in theaters a few weeks back, everything was Much clearer, and the voice acting was quite fitting. Everything was so awkwardly worded that we were all left scratching our heads, unable to figure out what was going on. A group of my friends watched the sub a year or so back when it first aired in Japan. But largely the situation has improved over the years. I used to be one of those people back in the day with my anime, as dubs used to be unanimously horrible. But I do feel r/yugioh tends to blindly favor subs. New Domino City, the playground to legendary duelist Yugi Muto, has been transformed into a futuristic society where dueling has kicked into overdrive.

They really are two different experiences in the end.

Also not to mention a ton of the dialogue has amazing ad libbed one liners and some great moments that the japanese version doesn't really have in the same way. Watch Yu-Gi-Oh 5Ds - Episode 136 online in high quality with English subbed or Dub. There were a lot of weird generic sounding orchestra tracks, while the english version had really good moment to moment themes that mostly carried a futuristic vibe. The soundtrack in japanese at times didn't really fit thematically for my taste.
